Holland: Flowering the World" (3) - Ikebana

The flower show ran from 3/11 to 3/19/2017. The display section of Ikebana arrangements was  divided into three rotations (to keep flowers fresh and to give more ikebanaists a chance to show their arrangements), and included four schools (Sogetsu, Ohara, Ikenobo and Ichiyo). I was on volunteer duty on the opening day, Saturday, for two hours. I have never seen so many people come to see the show and view the Ikebana arrangements. Within that two hours, I had to answer all these questions about Ikebana and promote Ikebana International. A person told me that she likes the Ikebana section the most. A lot of people admired the Ikebana's artistic creations. Below are the arrangements for the first rotation only. If you like to see other 2 rounds of the Ikebana exhibition, you can check the website of  Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter #71: http://ikebanaphiladelphia.org/w/.

Holand: Flowering the World - Orchids (2)

This year, the display of orchids was different. Most were Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Philanopsis, Oncidium...I didn't see any Cattleya in the display or maybe I missed them. The other pictures shown here were with winning ribbons.

PHS Phaladelphia Flower Show 2017 - "Holland: Flowering the World" (1)

The theme of this show is "Holland: Flowering the World." The flower show celebrates the beauty of the Dutch landscape, displays the Dutch contributions to the botanical world and highlights the country's technological advances in green energy, starting with windmills. As you may not know, this is the 188th Philadelphia flower show, the largest indoor flower show in the world. Set on 10 indoor acres in the Philadelphia convention hall. The show supports the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) urban tree planting programs and city harvest which grows and supplies food to the underprivileged.
Entering the show, all you see is tulips, tulips everywhere! There were more than 30 thousand tulips and other bulbs running in a rainbow of carpets. The show is spectacular. I was on volunteer duty for the first rotation (3 rotations in total) of Ikebana's display section. When off duty, I had the chance to view most of the show. It was breathtaking and beautiful! Here are just a few pictures:
