March Orchid Bloom

It's almost in the end of March, but winter is not going away. The weather is wired, temperature is up and down, up and down!
Hopefully My Cymbidium and Cattleya orchids will warm you up a little.

2015 Philadelphia Flower show 2

Following are the Ikebana exhibition of the flower show. These are the last turn (3 rotations) of Ikebana. To keep the arrangements fresh the display only show for 3 days each turn.




2015 Philadelphia Flower Show 1

The theme for this year's flower show was 'Celebrate the Movies.' Fairy tales and princesses were one of the dominant themes. My 2 hour volunteer shift fell on the last day of the show (the show ran from Feb 28 to Mar 8), the weather was so beautiful and warm that day too, so the Convention Center was very crowded especially there were many little kids wearing princess outfits, I guess they would love to see the Cinderella's glass shoe.

Hata sensei's class ( for March)

An Arrangement to be Viewed from All Angles

Material: Magnolia branch, Sunflower, Hypericum (St. John's wort). Philodendron.

Same title, two different containers make the arrangement somewhat different feeling. My white container had gone forever, because after the class it slipped from my hand and broke many pieces, so did my heart.


Material: Weeping Cherry branch, Hypericum (St. John's wort) and Hydrangea

Brazil Trip - Miscellaneous 8

The Brazil trip was from 2/14 to 2/26/2015. The journey had come to the end. It's nice to go to the warm weather for a change. Even though we are back to the reality (7 inches snow three days ago), but the Spring is approaching soon. Here are the last pictures I would like to show you.

I noticed many of this beautiful purple blue flower tree on the
 road side. Its name is MANACA 

Parana pine is an en-dangerous pine tree, only grow in this\part
of South America. 

Small pink flower growing  in the pit of  big rocky hill.

I saw Cattleya and Dendeobium orchids grow on the tree.
I never seen the butterfly like this one, the pattern match the
shirt well (below)
